Day 8

So, this is my one week weigh in. I am very happy to say that I have lost 9 lbs. and now weigh 287. I also won the bet with my fiancee so I get to buy something and she has to do 20 jumping jacks. Today I go for my first walk. I am going to go one mile and then work my way up from that. I think that one mile is not going to be enough to even start to challenge me but we shall see.

    First and foremost … congratulations! 9 lbs week one if really phenomenal and I wish you the best of success.

    I do want to caution you about a low carb diet. The fact that you had success with it in the past is exactly what I want to caution you about. Low carb diets tend not to be sustainable, and when you re-incorporate carbs back into your diet (which is likely), the weight comes right back on.

    Rather than low carbs, consider focusing on the types of carbs you’re consuming. Vegetables and fruits contain nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy, as do whole grains (e.g., Ezekiel bread, quinoa, sweet potatoes).

    Think of this not only as a weight loss journey, but a journey to get healthy.
